Kagame to host World Cup Trophy

President Paul Kagame is expected to host the Fifa World Cup trophy during its unprecedented journey across the continent ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa. According to Bralirwa’s Commercial Director Alexander Koech, presidents, Princes and Queens are the only individuals entitled to lay hands on the coveted trophy.

President Paul Kagame is expected to host the Fifa World Cup trophy during its unprecedented journey across the continent ahead of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa. According to Bralirwa’s Commercial Director Alexander Koech, presidents, Princes and Queens are the only individuals entitled to lay hands on the coveted trophy.

The Fifa World Cup trophy tours Rwanda on October 10 under the sponsorship of Coca Cola. During its tour in Rwanda, Coca Cola will distribute free tickets to fans in the country to enable them see the Trophy.

The route will span to more than 50 countries during a 70-day tour. Free tickets will be made available to consumers through Coca-Cola promotions.

At events in each city, fans will have the opportunity to have a souvenir photo taken of them with the trophy, view a special 3-D movie showcasing memorable moments of the Fifa World Cup, participate in interactive displays and enjoy other entertainment.

The initial four-month long leg of the Trophy Tour, which kicks off in Cairo, Egypt on September 24 was developed through an exclusive partnership between Fifa and Coca-Cola, a Fifa Partner and one of the organization’s longest-standing corporate partners.

In 2006, the tour visited 31 cities in 29 countries, covering 63,734 miles (102,570 kilometers) with millions of fans around the world enjoying the chance to have a closer look at football’s most famous prize.

Italy is the World Cup defending champions after clinch a 5-3 victory in the shoot-out against France.
