Final
Challengers 85 all out
Young Tigers 86/5

Tigers won by 5 wickets

YOUNG TIGERS were yesterday crowned RCA Twenty/20 Cup champions after beating Challengers in the final played at Kicukiro oval.

The student-studded side sailed home after a five wicket victory thanks to star performances from Andre Kayitera and Jean Claude Siboniyo.

Batting first, Challengers were restricted to a modest score of 85 all out thanks to some great bowling from Siboniyo.

The 18-year-old laid a perfect foundation for Young Tigers after picking four wickets including the prize wicket of national team captain Srinath Vardhineni (22) who was getting comfortable on the crease.

In reply, Tigers had a slow start when their star batsman Eric Dusingizimana was immediately sent back to the dressing room after being bowled out for a duck.

However, Kayitera, who has proved that he is arguably the most complete cricketer in the country settled the ship with some cracking shots.

The 19-year-old’s knock of 34 runs included a six and four boundaries. Bob Songa scored the winning runs as he finished unbeaten on 16. Just like Young Tigers’ imposing team effort, the club also dominated the individual accolades.

Dusingizimana took the best batsman’s award; Audifax Byiringiro was best bowler while Kayitera took the man of series award.

Challengers’ Joseph Tuyishimire picked up the best fielder’s prize.
