Lightning killed three children in Bumbogo Sector of Gasabo District, on the evening of October 24. Their mother survived because she was not with the children when disaster struck, according to witnesses, but she got traumatized and was taken to hospital.

Innocent Nyamutera, the Executive Secretary of Bumbogo Sector, said the three siblings who passed on were children aged nine, six, and three.
City of Kigali Police Spokesperson, CIP Wellars Gahonzire, told the media that two other children, a four-year-old and a three-year-old, were also killed by a landslide. The two children succumbed to injuries after being taken to Muhima hospital.
According to the Rwanda Meteorology Agency, from October 21 to October 31, many parts of the country will continue to experience heavy rains.

The predicted rainfall is above the range of long-term average in many parts of Western, Northern and Southwestern provinces while the Eastern, Kigali and localized areas of Southern Province will be in the range of long-term average.
The highest amount of rainfall predicted in the next 10 days will range between 120 and 150 millimetres, and it is expected in many parts of Ngororero and Nyamasheke districts, in northern parts of Rubavu, Nyabihu, Musanze and Burera districts, western parts of Karongi and Nyamagabe districts and eastern parts of Rutsiro and Rusizi districts.
Rainfall ranging between 90 and 120 millimetres is expected in the remaining parts of Western Province (except southern parts of Rusizi and eastern parts of Karongi) and the rest of Northern Province (except in parts of Rulindo and Gicumbi).

It is also expected in the remaining parts of Nyamagabe, many parts of Nyaruguru and northern parts of Muhanga District.
Parts of Nyagatare, Gatsibo, Kayonza, Kirehe, Ngoma, Bugesera and Ruhango districts are expected to record less rainfall during this period, ranging between 0 and 30 millimetres.
Moderate to slightly strong wind speed ranging between four and eight metres per second is expected across the country.
