The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has included Rwanda’s Aline Umutoni, Alice Umutesi and Salma Mukansanga among the match officials selected to officiate at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League finals that will take place in Morocco from November 2-8.
Umutoni was selected as in the centre referees’ category, while Umutesi will serve as an assistant referee. Mukansanga, who recently announced that she won’t blow the whistle anymore as a centre referee, will join the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) crew.
The Women’s Champions League finals will feature eight clubs. They include five debutants namely Aigles de la Medina (Senegal), EDO Queens (Nigeria), University of the Western Cape (South Africa), Tutankhamun (Egypt), and CBE FC (Ethiopia).
They will join two-time winners Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), 2022 champions and hosts ASFAR (Morocco), as well as TP Mazembe (DR Congo) who are returning to the competition after missing the last edition in Cote d’Ivoire.
