NGOMA - Youth from various churches in Kibungo Ngoma district yesterday donated an assortment of clothes to the returnees in Nyinya settlement in Rukira sector.

The donations  worth Rwf 600, 000 were handed over to the beneficiaries by Francis Bushayija, the president of Ngoma District Advisory Council.

The donations  were collected from youth  in the district under an umbrella  organisation known as Boaz.

Bushayija urged the returnees to be patient saying "the government has some sort of  plans for returnees.” He urged them to cherish and love one another.

"Working as a team  will help you achieve some of your goals in the shortest time possible,” Bushayija, who is also the coordinator of the Lutheran World Federation in the Eastern Province and a member of Rukira Sector Advisory Council said.

Florence Mukabarisa, the president of Boaz said that as youth they found it a necessity to render a helping hand to  the returnees.

Close to 50 families, about 148 individauls live in Nyinya returnees’ settlement camp.

They are among those who were repatriated from Tanzania in October 2006 in an incidence where a vast majority lost  almost all their belongings and possessions. So far only 18 of the families have been resettled.

Emmanuel Senga, one of the members of Boaz called upon the returnees to let God lead their way in whatever development plans  they seek to pursue.

"A change of attitude and mindset will enable the returnees to have a better future,” Senga said.  

Meanwhile, Boaz is set to additionally make donations  worth Rwf 1 million to over 100 returnees living in Kageyo settlement camp in Kayonza district by next week.
