Nibishaka, Dusabe join APR women ahead of Zone V Championship

APR women basketball club have added Group Scolaire Marie Reine de Rwaza small forward Brigitte Nibishaka and The Hoops star center Jane Dusabe to their roster ahead of the upcoming FIBA Africa Zone 5 Club Championship.

The regional women’s club basketball showpiece is scheduled for October 27 through November 2, in Zanzibar.

Nibishaka, who was part of Rwandan team that took part in the U18 Women’s Afrobasket in South Africa, finished as the leading scorer of the regular season with 501 points, an outstanding performance that saw her named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the regular season.

The military side also hopes to count on Dusabe’s defending abilities during the Zone V competition. The center was arguably named best defender of the season on merit after making 38 blocks, 343 points, 58 steals, 327 rebounds and 515 efficient during the 2024 season.

APR finished the basketball league season as runners-up. They will represent Rwanda at the competition alongside 2024 champions REG Women.

Zone V championship will serve as a qualifier for the 2024 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women which brings together 10 teams from across the continent.
