The national women rugby side, the Blackbacks has started intensive training for this year’s International women’s Sevens tournament in Uganda.
The Confederation of African Rugby (CAR) recognized event is scheduled for July 27 at Kampala rugby club.
Blackbacks coach Jean de la Paix Hategekimana told Times Sport that although there are a number of new faces in the side, the zeal and commitment is still there to help them win the tournament.
"Some of our old players have stopped playing the game so we have brought in a couple of new players,” he said.
"The good news though is that the team has looked good in training and should be a handful for the Ugandans and Kenyans come 27th,” he added.
Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Burundi are some of the other teams expected to grace the competition.
The Blackbacks command respect in the region due to the fact that they are ranked among the top ten elite sides in Africa.
