Under-fire Amavubi Stars head Coach Tucak Branko has vowed never to quit his job even if his task of guiding the national team to the 2010 World/Africa Cup finals falls apart.

The Croat recently put to rest rumours that he could quit if Rwanda continues her dismal outing in the remaining Group C fixtures.

"I will never resign. I will continue to do my work and leave the rest to my bosses,” Tucak said.

"Right now, I have a job to do and that is to help Rwanda qualify to either the 2010 World Cup or Africa Nations Cup finals.”

Rwanda’s dream of making a debut World Cup appearance, let alone a second appearance in Africa’s Nations Cup, was dealt a major setback after their 1-0 defeat against Zambia.

The defeat left Amavubi with a steep mountain to climb if they are to make the trip to South (World Cup) or Angola (Africa’s Nations Cup).

Although Amavubi stars midfielder cum defender Mutesa Mafisango recently claimed that Algeria’s 3-1 win over Egypt had worked in Rwanda’s favour, the result instead complicated the equation further for Rwanda since they must now win against Egypt in Cairo on July 5 to boost their chances.

The Wasps survived a rout as Chipolopolo dominated for the better part of the match. Zambia missed several chances before finally breaking the deadlock in the 79th minute through Rainford Kalaba, who plays his football in Portugal with Sporting Braga.

After the weekend results, Algeria top the group on goal difference since the North Africans and Zambia are level on points (four). Rwanda and Egypt have managed one point from their opening two fixtures.

Rwanda still has a realistic chance of fighting for one of three Africa Cup of Nations spots up for grabs if they can get a result against the African Champions.
