Five die in motor accident

In one of the incidents at Busogo, Musanze District, four people died while nine others were injured when an mini-bus registration number RAB 644B with 14 people on board rammed into a trailer.

MUSANZE — Five people died in two separate road accidents along the Ruhengeri-Gisenyi road over the weekend. In one of the incidents at Busogo, Musanze District, four people died while nine others were injured when an mini-bus registration number RAB 644B with 14 people on board rammed into a trailer.

The injured were admitted at Ruhengeri Hospital. The accident was attributed to a tire puncture. Two of the dead were identified as Janvier Niyitegeka, an RDF soldier and Penia Nyiramana. 

The driver of the mini-bus, Mbarushimana Gasimba is being held at the Muhoza Police station for further questioning.

Witnesses who talked to The New Times said that the speeding mini-bus, failed to brake even after suffering  a puncture and this led to the fatal accident.

In another accident, a Kenyan national who has been working in Musanze District identified as Walsh Mulwa Kithuku was hit by a speeding trailer at night and died instantly in Muhoza Sector.
