Mountain bike racing: 20 countries be represented at Rwandan Epic 2024

Rwandan cyclist Didier Munyaneza races in a past Rwanda Epic competition. 20 countries will participate in the Rwandan Epic from October 21 to 25.

Athletes from 20 countries will participate in the "Rwandan Epic 2024," a mountain bike race scheduled for October 21 to 25 in Kigali as well as the Northern and Western provinces.

Organised by Rwanda Alternative Riding Events (RAR Events) in collaboration with Rwanda Cycling Association (FERWACY), this year’s edition of the race will feature competition in three categories including individual racers, men's and women's categories, and mixed teams.

The race will consist of five stages totalling a distance of 300 kilometres including an ascent of 5000 meters.

The first stage will take place at Mont Kigali on October 21, followed by one that will start at Nyirangarama and end in Musanze. The remaining two stages will be played in Nyabihu and Lake Kivu on October 25.

The countries that will be represented include Rwanda, Germany, Belgium, Kenya, Spain, South Africa, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, France, Italy, The Netherlands and the United States.

The 2023 edition of the race was won by German rider Daniel Gathof.
