Knowing your parents

We may live with our parents, spend many hours together, and talk with them a lot but still not know them all that well. Taking you through a simple test on how well you know your parents will make you either realise your ignorance or be proud of how close you are to them.

Parents are God’s gift to us. We should learn to appreciate them, be close to them and be willing to learn from them. If you were asked to name your parents three best friends, could you?

Would you know who they first run to when they have problems? What is your Mother’s favourite colour? Now as you think through these questions, here comes the most important one. Do you know your parents’ phone numbers?

Imagine if you were in danger and needed help. Learning your parents’ phone numbers by heart is very useful and can help you out in many different situations.

You should also have your teacher’s number in case your parents want to contact them. Life is full of surprises, good news and bad news that sometimes need to be conveyed immediately.

If the school bus accidentally left you, who would you call? If a stranger came to your home in your parents’ absence and you needed to raise the alarm?

However, we should not just think about the worst scenarios, but some positive reasons, too. Like making a surprise phone call to your parents to wish them a happy birthday and thank them for everything they have done for you.
