It has been over a decade now since Quentin Rushenguziminega played for Rwanda. His last appearance in Amavubi jersey was on November 17, 2015, when they lost 3-1 to Libya in the 2018 World Cup qualifier. He played all 90 minutes of action at the time.
Overall, Rushenguziminega earned three international caps for the Rwandan team which played against Ghana and Libya over two legs. Since then, he hasn&039;t had a shot at the national team.
Rushenguziminega's football journey has been a rollercoaster. He may be playing for FC Echallens in the Swiss fourth tier league but his goal scoring prowess cannot be undermined. His 103 goals in 137 games that he played for Echallens is a worthy testament of his talent.

Strikers are different. Normally, for a forward, the division in which he plays is less relevant. It is rather the player’s talent and form at that moment which counts. Amavubi&039;s top striker Innocent Nshuti plays in the US third tier league but he makes his mark anytime he put in the national team shirt.
Rushenguziminega has scored 7 goals in 8 Classica Liga games so far this season and he is among the top scorers in the division.

The 32-year-old centre forward has vast experience, having previously played for Yverdon Sports, Stade Lausanne and Stade Nyonnais among others. He has rarely struggled to score goals in his career.
Currently, Spittler has got no replacement for Innocent Nshuti in his Amavubi set up. Arthur Gitego needs a bit of time to get to that level, Taiba Mbonyumwami is yet to prove himself considering his display against Benin in Abidjan when he came on for Nshuti. Abeddy Biramahire has also been in and out of the national team without any significant impact.
Amavubi needs a striker with huge experience and expertise enough to give back up for Nshuti and Rushenguziminega could be the ideal wild card for Spittler.
The German's major headache has been in attack and having various options at his disposal, including Rushenguziminega, can be ideal as the qualifying phase reaches an ‘all or nothing’ stage.
In terms of quality, Rushenguziminega is a "fox in the box" type of striker. He hardly misses chances in and around the 18-yard box. He is a lethal weapon who can be a very good back up for Nshuti.
His first stint with Amavubi at the age of 21 didn't go well, he played three games without scoring and now at 32, he has grown his attacking status. He has seen it all and learnt a lot.
With his current form, he certainly deserves another chance in Amavubi to contribute his quota. Spittler should certainly not overlook Rushenguziminega for November's AFCON qualifiers against Libya and Nigeria.
