Amb. Emmanuel Hategeka presented his letters of credence to President Andry Rajoelina of Madagascar as the non-resident Ambassador of Rwanda to Madagascar, on Wednesday, October 16, at the State House in Madagascar.

While presenting his credentials, Amb. Hategeka emphasised that consolidating the good relations and building platforms for broader cooperation in areas of trade and investment, agriculture, industrialisation, tourism, and ICT as well as exchanges in public service delivery will remain in focus during his tour of duty.

Rwanda and Madagascar enjoy good bilateral relations which have been bolstered by exchange of high-level visits including the state visit by the President of Madagascar in 2023 and his participation in Kwibuka30 and the Presidential inauguration in April and August 2024, respectively.

President Rajoelina conveyed warm greetings and best wishes of good health to President Paul Kagame. He applauded Rwanda’s development model appreciating the leadership for turning around the country in the last 30 years.

The President congratulated and welcomed the new Ambassador, reassuring him of his Government’s unwavering support and desire to strengthening bilateral cooperation in key areas of human capital development, agriculture, tourism, industrial development, diplomacy, and good governance.

During his stay in Madagascar , Amb. Hategeka paid courtesy visits to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of environment, the Minister of Tourism, and the Minister of Transport as well as the CEO of the Economic Development Board of Madagascar during which discussions focused on activating cooperation in areas of mutual benefit to the peoples of both countries.

Amb. Hategeka had the opportunity to meet and engage the Rwandan community in Madagascar based in Antananarivo.

About 70 Rwandans work in various international organizations in Madagascar.
