Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has submitted the case of Bishop Jean Bosco Harerimana of Zeraphat Holy Church and his wife, Jeanne Mukansengiyumva, to the National Public Prosecution Authority (NPPA).
The couple, arrested on October 9, faces charges of fraud, blackmail, and the dissemination of pornographic material through computer systems.
RIB spokesperson Thierry Murangira said the case was handed over to NPPA on October 14.

Murangira previously said that a former member of the Zeraphat church lodged a complaint, accusing Harerimana of soliciting Rwf10 million, promising to cure the complainant’s long-term illness. His wife is alleged to have played a key role in the blackmail, using pornographic images and the husband is viewed as an accomplice.
Murangira stressed the importance of clergy members upholding ethical standards, noting that violations of the law by religious leaders tarnish their reputation and the integrity of their office.
If convicted of fraud, the couple faces two to three years in prison and fines ranging from Rwf3 to Rwf5 million. For blackmail, the penalties could include one to three years of imprisonment and fines between Rwf100,000 and Rwf300,000.
Zeraphat Holy Church, headquartered in Rubavu District, also has a branch in the Kanombe area of Kigali.
