Amavubi captain Djihad Bizimana insists he and his teammates will have no excuse before their home supporters but to defeat Benin who have fast become their nemesis in African football.
The two countries square off at Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, October 15, in what could decide the fate of Rwanda’s AFCON 2025 qualification.
Rwanda have found Benin a tough customer for over a decade as they are yet to get a single win in their past six meetings. However, Bizimana says Tuesday will be the day for them to break the jinx.
"My teammates and I know that it wasn’t easy for us to beat Benin. But we have learnt from our mistakes. Tomorrow, we have another chance to prove that we can win against Benin. We hope to change the situation tomorrow,” he told the press on Monday.
"Keeping three points at home is our priority, we will keep this in mind," he added.

The Kryvbas midfielder admitted that they didn’t perform well in Abidjan and they were rewarded with a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Benin, a result that put their AFCON qualification hopes on the line.
"We had a bad game,” he said.
"We didn’t play against Benin with confidence. We had discussed before the game that we needed a win a win or a draw but that wasn’t the case.”
"It looks like it’s the last chance for us and that’s why Rwandans should come for us to support us. What we can assure you is to win this match,” he added
