Hakizimana wins ‘Steeple Chase’ race
Gervais Hakizimana, one of Rwanda’s top athletes boosted his dream of becoming a top Steeple Chase athlete after a sensational run in France on Thursday. The Belgian based athlete raced home in 9 minutes and 15 seconds, 23 seconds ahead of his closest challenger Dahmaj Belaid from Morocco.

Gervais Hakizimana, one of Rwanda’s top athletes boosted his dream of becoming a top Steeple Chase athlete after a sensational run in France on Thursday.
The Belgian based athlete raced home in 9 minutes and 15 seconds, 23 seconds ahead of his closest challenger Dahmaj Belaid from Morocco.
In an e-mail to Times Sport, Hakizimana said that winning this race had given him great hope of challenging for ‘Jeux de la Francophone’ scheduled for November in Lebanon.
"This win is a great motivation for me ahead of more lucrative races like ‘Jeux de la Francophone’ and the 2012 London Olympic Games,” his email read in part.
Steeple Chase is a lengthy race of 3000m, with four ordinary barriers and one water Jump.
