The two-day event, bankrolled by Rwanda Development Board (RDB) will have cyclists racing from Kigali to Rubavu and back.
Speaking ahead of the show piece, the president of the national cycling federation (Ferwacy) Aimable Bayingana predicted a tight race all the way.
"The competition will be very competitive and attractive because on top of our local cyclists, we also expect top cyclists from the region to compete,” Bayingana said.
"Kenya and Uganda have expressed interest and we are still waiting on Burundi and Tanzania.”
RDB have staked a lucrative Rwf0.5 million for the winner. The top 25 cyclists will all walk way with cash prizes.
