Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women basketball club are celebrating their third basketball league championship after completing a 4-0 coean sweep of APR in the betPawa finals to be crowned 2024 league champions on Friday night at Petit Stade indoor gymansium.
The electricians not only lifted the trophy, but their star players were among those recoginzed for their outstanding performances throughout the season.

Kristina Morgan named playoffs MVP
American center Kristina Morgan was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2024 Rwanda Basketball League playoffs.
The 28-year-old played a big role in helping REG Women lift their third championship on Friday.
In the entire playoffs, Kristina scored 100 points, 103 rebounds and 19 assists.
Top scorer of the season: Brigitte Nibishaka
Groupe Scolaire Marie Reine de Rwaza may have finished in fourth place after playoffs but they produced one of the top performers of the season in Brigitte Nibishaka who was named top scorer of the season.
The small forward, who was part of Rwanda women’s team that took part in the U18 Women’s Afrobasket in South Africa, finished as the leading scorer of the regular season with 501 points. Her outstanding performance also saw her named MVP of the regular season.
Best 3 points shooter: Rosine Micomyiza
The Shooting Guard, who currently plies her trade with Rwanda Energy Group (REG) basketball club, was named best three-point shooter in the season after making 69 three pointers.
Best defender: Jane Dusabe
Numbers speak for the Hoops Rwanda Center who made 38 blocks, 343 points, 58 steals, 327 rebounds and 515 efficient. She was arguably named best defender of the season on merit.
Coach of the year: Xavier Byukusenge
Byukusenge brought his experience to Marie Reine and helped them finish in third place in regular season and fourth place in playoffs this year.
The coach of the year prize was a reward of what he has been doing at the club since it was introduced in the women's basketball league.
