Editor,
I would like to commend the International Monetary Fund (IMF)for stepping up its help to Africa to combat fallout from the global economic crisis.
It is said that the body is expected to boost assistance in 2009/10 to $3 billion (Rwf1.7trillion) a year. The fund is reforming its concessional lending instruments to make them more flexible and tailored to the needs of low-income countries.
Low development countries (LDCs) will benefit seriously from these funds especially in this time of global economic recession.
The funds will boost lending, expanding technical assistance and offering policy advice on how to counter the crisis and protect the most vulnerable.
For all IMF’s effort to support LDCs through its lending, is really important and cannot go unnoticed.
