WESTERN PROVINCE

RUSIZI — Local artistes in Rusizi District are organising a concert in the area aimed at mobilising and sensitising youth to fight against drug abuse.

The district  Mayor, Fabien Sindayiheba said  the concert which will take place on Friday at Cyangugu central stadium, was organised by the district in conjunction with the artistes.

"The main objective of this concert is to sensitise the youth in the region to desist from engaging in untoward behaviour like  drugs abuse. The concert will also send out a message for youth to embrace government programs,” Sindayiheba said.

The concert is also intended to promote local talents while calling upon residents to fight against the spread of HIV/Aids. As part of the activities, residents will be sensitised on domestic violence, rape, family planning, job creation and genocide ideology.

Jean Paul Nduwimana, one of the artistes slated  to perform in the concert said: "During that concert we shall sing different songs that would send a positive message to rally youths and area residents behind different government programmes. But we also want them to feel our presence as artistes.”
