Huye successfully defended their sitting volleyball crown after wining the final phase of the national championship held at the NPC Gymnasium at Amahoro stadium over the weekend.

The Southern Province club topped the points chart with 68, six more than Intwari in second place. The National University of Rwanda came third with 61 points.

Huye coach Hermans Muvunyi told Times Sport that although this year’s campaign was way tougher than last year, he was never in doubt that his team would still hold onto the title.

"This year, the journey to the title was not straightforward. The teams came out fighting from the start and we had to double our efforts. But I’m happy that we still made it,” he said.

Having fallen short in the sitting volleyball tournament, Intwari still had reason to smile after edging Huye to the Men’s sitball title.

Intwari amassed 104 points while Huye finished second with 98points. Nyanza finished in a distant third with 83 points.

In the women’s sitball fray, UNR emerged champions with 54 points while Kivu and Kigali Stars finished second and third with 42 and 40 points respectively.
