UNR Grizzlies coach Alphonse Umugire has hailed his team for their fighting spirit and resilience after recording three straight wins over Puma, Lion de Fer and Sharks. The varsity side started the season on a low key after their humiliating 95-0 loss to reigning champions Buffaloes.
However, the side has since recovered with three successive wins and Umugire believes that the revival is partly down to the fighting spirit and confidence in the side.
"The boys have shown great dedication and hard work since the defeat to Buffaloes. They have been regular in training,” Umugire noted.
After Saturday’s 12-0 win over Sharks, Grizzlies are in second place, five points adrift of table leaders Buffaloes.
In a related development, Puma rugby club has asked the rugby federation to allow them play only home matches due to financial problems they are facing.
The President of the Kamonyi based club Jean de Dieu Murenzi told Times Sport that they in financial difficulties and cannot play away matches.
"Our club is experiencing financial problems at the moment so we have requested the federation to allow us play only home games,” he said.
