Africa IV Championship will lift Rwanda's sports tourism according to Rwanda Golf Association president Amb. Bill Kayonga-Emmanuel Dushimimana

Rwanda Golf Association president Amb. Bill Kayonga is optimistic that hosting the Africa IV Championship is an opportunity to portray Rwanda's sports tourism.

Kayonga highlighted that Rwanda is one of the top Golf destinations in Africa and hosting the regional tournament will further bring sport tourism in the country to the limelight.

"This tournament will be broadcast live on different TV channels, especially in the participating countries. There are those who will see the beauty of this golf course and get curious to come to Rwanda and that will boost our sports tourism in relations to golf," he told the press.

On his part, the president of the African Golf Association, Johnson Omollo, said that Rwanda has over the years shown that it is capable of hosting big golf tournaments which is why they didn't hesitate to host the competition in Kigali.

"Last year we allowed Rwanda to host these games because it showed us that it can organise and has a good stadium. Not only for East Africa but for Africa at large," Omollo said.

The Africa IV Championship is underway at Kigali Golf Resort and Villas from October 4 to 6, 2024. The six countries competing for honors are host nation Rwanda Uganda, Kenya, Mauritius, Seychelles and Ethiopia.
