Amavubi right-back Fitina Omborenga has commended head coach Torsten Spittler for transforming the national football team.
The Rayon Sports defender who is among the senior players on the team said in a press conference that he hopes the German tactician can stay longer than December when his contract expires.

"I hope our coach stays for the next year because his results justify that he deserves it,” he said.
Reflecting on Rwanda&039;s past journeys in continental qualifiers, Omborenga shared how this year feels different due to the tactical improvements introduced by Spittler.
"The team is well-prepared, based on new tactics and training sessions introduced by the coach. His methods are already yielding results, but we believe there’s still more to learn and improve as we go forward," he said.

Addressing the importance of the upcoming matches against Benin, Omborenga stressed that winning is essential for their qualification journey.
"The games against Benin mean a lot to us. We definitely need to win them. They are going to determine who will continue in the competition,” he noted.
Rwanda has yet to qualify for the AFCON finals since 2004.
Amavubi currently sit third in Group D with two points from two games, having drawn 1-1 with Libya in Tripoli and 0-0 with Nigeria at Amahoro Stadium.
