Local athletics shun Nile Marathon
There will be no local athlete in tomorrow’s Nile marathon in Jinja, Uganda. According to the National Athletics Federation Secretary General Appollaire Munyangoga, the athletes were not invited for the event.

There will be no local athlete in tomorrow’s Nile marathon in Jinja, Uganda. According to the National Athletics Federation Secretary General Appollaire Munyangoga, the athletes were not invited for the event.
"There are no local athletes in the Nile Marathon simply because they were not invited,” Munyangoga said.
The marathon being sponsored by Hared oil Petroleum Company to the tune of 15 million Uganda shillings is in two catergories: 21km and 10km for both men and women.
Over 9000 athletes are expected to take part including Uganda’s Olympic gold medalist Moses Kipsiro.
