The death toll from the Marburg virus increased to 11 after one person dies from the haemorrhagic disease on Wednesday, October 2, the Ministry of Health said.
The health authorities also confirmed seven new cases, bringing the total to 36. As of Wednesday, 25 people were under isolation and treatment, the ministry said.

Rwanda confirmed the first-ever Marburg virus outbreak on September 27.
Officials said on Sunday that about 300 people had been identified as contacts of the confirmed cases and were under constant monitoring.

The Ministry on Sunday released guidelines aimed at containing the virus.
These include a 14-day suspension of hospital visits, reinforced hygiene practices, and limiting contact with individuals showing symptoms such as fever, headaches, and muscle pain.
Business activities will continue, but the public is urged to follow the hygiene measures, including handwashing in public spaces.
On Wednesday, the Ministry of Education also announced preventive guidelines for schools, including the suspension of monthly visits to board school students.
