Steua Bucharest defender David Kiki will miss Benin’s two AFCON 2025 qualifying matches against Rwanda through injury.
Benin host Amavubi in Abidjan on October 11 before traveling to Kigali for the second leg clash on October 15 at Amahoro Stadium.
Kiki sustained an injury during club training on September 13 prior to the Romanian topflight league game against CFR Cluj and he is yet to recover.
He has now told Benin head coach Gernot Rohr that he will not be available for both games against Rwanda.
Kiki, who already made 51 international appearances for Benin since 2015, is one of the key players in the national team and his absence is a big blow for Rohr and his group.
He was among standout performers when Benin beat Rwanda 1-0 in Cote d'Ivoire on June 6, this time in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.
