National soccer league Champions Atraco has been made to wait on Ferwafa’s verdict on their striker Abedi Mulenda. The Rwandan international was banned by Ferwafa before the start of the season for breaching the federation’s soccer rules after signing for two clubs.
Mulenda who was contracted to Atraco at the time, signed for rivals Rayon Sport forcing the football body to suspend him for a year.
Atraco recently wrote to Ferwafa requesting the body to clear the player ahead of the upcoming Kagame Cup which was recently switched to Sudan but according to the club’s assistant coach Emmanuel Ruremesh, a Ferwafa has not replied.
"We wrote to them about two weeks ago but they have not yet replied.’’he said. Atraco are desperate for a quick response as they start their preparations for the regional club tournament.
Speaking to Ferwafa’s CEO Jules Kalisa, he said that a decision will be reached after next month’s Amavubi’s 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia.
"The disciplinary committee will meet after the Zambia qualifier and take a decision. We shall communicate to them (Atraco) before the Kagame Championship,”Kalisa said.
Atraco will be Rwanda’s only representative in the two-week competition while Uganda will field Kampala City Council (KCC). Young Africans will represent Tanzania Mainland, while Miembeni will hoist Zanzibar’s flag.
Kenya’s Tusker is the defending champions after beating Uganda’s URA in last year’s final. Other Cecafa member-countries expected to take part in the tournament are Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia and Sudan.
