Newly promoted Vision FC salvaged a well-deserved point after holding league leaders Police FC to a goalless draw in Wednesday afternoon’s rescheduled league encounter at Kigali Pele Stadium.
Both teams were level 0-0 at the end of the first half played Sunday, September 29, before match officials decided to postpone the game after the pitch was flooded by heavy downpour.
The teams returned to action for the second half on Monday, September 30 at the same ground which was in better conditions.
It was a battle in midfield where the league newcomers dominated ball possession. Vision FC head coach Calum Selby played a very tactical game in the second half as his side held the Police FC players at bay.
The home side made vital incursions into the danger zone of Vincent Mashami’s side in the 70th minute but Samuel Ndizeye was efficient on the day with successful defensive display.
Nigerian striker Elijah Ani also had a couple of decent chances to break the deadlock for Police FC but goalkeeper James Djaoyang made some good saves to keep his side in the game.
Vision FC played with total cohesion as they pushed to open the scoring against a Police FC side which was struggling in the second half as they could not have a cutting edge.
The 45 minutes ended in a draw as both teams shared spoils at fulltime.
The result saw Vision FC moved to 15th place on the table with 2 points from 5 games played so far while Police FC remain top of the log with 11 points.
