KICUKIRO - The ‘One Dollar Campaign’ which was launched early last month has been described by the Director General of the Diaspora in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Robert Masozera as progressing.

He revealed this on Sunday while visiting AIPER School Nyandungu in Kicukiro District where Blessed Generation, a Christian youth organisation had gone to extend a hand of help to Genocide survivor students.

The campaign was launched by the Rwanda Diaspora Global Network mainly to raise funds to provide accommodation facilities to children orphaned by the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

According to Masozera, the campaign which was well received in various countries around the world, is being extended to the grass roots level in the country.

"We have started a drive to take the campaign to the cell level where every body will be given chance to contribute as he or she is able and so far people are showing willingness towards this noble cause,” said Masozera.

Masozera says that even though there is no current update of the funds inflow, it is now estimated to be between Rwf50 and 60 million.

Speaking at the function, the coordinator of Blessed Generation, Josephine Kayiraba Mudenge said that they had gone to pass on a message of hope to students in the school.

"The aim of us coming here was to bring to the survivor students a message of hope and to show them that there are people who care for them,” she said.

The Blessed Generation Organisation donated scholastic materials, clothes and food stuffs to the over 300 students and Rwf100,000 to be used by the students as pocket money.
