CANAL+ Rwanda, through its Canal Impact initiative that is aimed at giving back to the community, on September 26, donated school materials and food items to 28 underprivileged children and their families.
According to Sophie Tchatchoua, CEO of CANAL+ Rwanda, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, CANAL+ Rwanda is deeply committed to three main areas namely; promote education, empower women, and protect the environment.
In collaboration with A-Bato Organisation in Gikondo, CANAL Rwanda has been supporting these children since 2020. The children, accompanied by their parents, received essential food supplies and household items.
The support is aimed at ensuring that children progress and thrive in their education and health.

Bourreau Adrien, Commercial and Marketing Director at CANAL+ Rwanda noted that investing in community development in the regions where CANAL operates is very important.
"It’s essential for us to contribute to improving the environment and the lives of people in Rwanda and across Africa. I’m very impressed by what CANAL+ Rwanda has achieved over the past years through the CANAL Impact initiative. It sends a positive message that we truly believe in the next generation, and we must do everything we can to support their growth," said Bourreau.
He added, "We are not here just for business; we are here for the long term. We aim to have a lasting positive impact on the people in Rwanda. This program is only four years old, and I hope it will continue for another 40 years. We want to involve even more people."

Alphonsina Nyirahabimana, 38, is a mother of two children, Noella Cyuzuzo and Lionel Manzi Kwizera, who are both sponsored by Canal Rwanda. Noella is in Primary Four and Lionel is in Primary Five at Saint Vincent Pallotti Primary School in Gikondo. They have been receiving support from Canal Rwanda for over four years.
"I&039;m happy that my children have never missed school and receive additional support, including food, throughout all these years. They perform well academically and are also being nurtured spiritually through religious classes.
She added: "They are provided with everything they need. I'm overjoyed because they've never been sent home for school fees. Their older brothers, however, were not as fortunate. They performed well, but couldn't receive their report cards due to unpaid fees, which forced them to drop out early. I am deeply grateful to Canal .
