The meeting, according to a statement from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), focused on assessing the ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the region which has been plagued by terrorism.
During the discussions, Admiral Mangrasse commended the achievements of the joint military operations since the deployment of Rwanda Security Forces in Cabo Delgado in July 2021.
He expressed appreciation for the strong partnership between Mozambican and Rwandan forces, highlighting how this collaboration significantly contributed to the return of thousands of displaced residents to their homes.
Both leaders reviewed the progress made in dismantling terrorist strongholds and discussed strategies for further securing the region, the statement added.
The ongoing collaboration, which has now lasted over three years, has been a key factor in disrupting terrorist networks and restoring a sense of normalcy to affected communities in Cabo Delgado.
Since their initial deployment, Rwanda Security Forces have played a crucial role in pushing back insurgents, securing strategic locations, and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those in need.
Rwanda deployed troops to Cabo Delgado in July 2021 to assist Mozambican forces in clearing insurgents from the region.
This joint effort has allowed over 250,000 displaced residents to return home and revived economic activities in key districts previously affected by terrorism.
