Vincent Mashami’s Police FC were ruthless in their rescheduled Rwanda Premier League week 2 encounter as they handed Kiyovu Sports a 4-0 mauling at the Kigali Pele Stadium on Thursday, September 26.
The law enforcers are unbeaten since the Rwanda Premier League campaign and they have not conceded a single goal during their past four league goals.
The game started with Police FC getting more men behind the ball as they dictated the pace of the game. There was no chance in the early stages of the encounter until the 10th minute when Christian Ishimwe's strike from the left flank missed the post by inches.
Kiyovu Sports had their first chance of the game in the 12th minute. Desire Mugisha latched onto a through ball and fired a shot which was easily saved by goalkeeper Patient Niyongira.
A minute later, Didier Mugisha was involved in a quick counter attack by agonizingly shot his final effort wide.
Ishimwe made amends for his earlier missed. He drifted into the middle after receiving a pass from Abedi Bigirimana before firing past Djihad Nzeyurwanda for the opener in the 14th minute.
Police FC thought they would be awarded a penalty in the 26th minute when Elijah Ani went down after he attempted to fire a shot inside the Kiyovu penalty box but referee Samuel Uwikunda rejected it.

Joslin Bipfubusa’s side looked so disjointed that they would allow Police FC to pin them into their own half. The incessant pressure yielded dividends in the 39th minute as an unmarked Abedi Bigirimana doubled the lead for Police in the 40th minute.
Elijah Ani missed a glorious chance to make it 3-0 for Police in the 43rd minute as he shot straight into the waiting arms of goalkeeper Djihad Nzerwanda.
Christian Ishimwe had the ball at the back of the net in the 45th minute through a superb free kick at the edge of the box but the goal was disallowed as referee Uwikunda did not whistle before he kicked the ball.
The first half ended with Police leading 2-0 and being the better side.
After the break, Police FC continued where they stopped before halftime, dominating the game in various aspects. Henry Msanga found Didier Mugisha with a delightful ball on the left wing, he went past his marker before cutting in to hit a thunderous strike from 20 yards which zoomed into the net for the third goal in the 50th minute.
Karim Nizigiyimana, who was Kiyovu&039;s standout performer of the day, went on overlapping run, beating Ishimwe in the 54th minute but there was no one to connect his cross as it went off target.
Meanwhile, Ani was having a tough day in attack as he struggled to get space to score. Ans, he tried to adjust his display, he missed two glorious chances in the 60th and 65th minute as he looked to keep his goal scoring form.
Mashami brought on Pacifique Ngabonziza and Fred Muhoozi for Msanga and goal scorer Mugisha in the 75th minute.
Ani finally got his name on the scoresheet to make 4-0 for Police in the 82nd minute after a host missed chances. He was played through in a counter attack and he made no mistake by firing past Nzeyurwanda to score his second goal in four games.
Mashami then introduced Peter Agblevor, Eric Nsabimana and Allan Kateregga who came in for Elijah Ani, Richard Kilongozi and Simeon Iradukunda in the 84th minute with the victory already guaranteed.
The final six minutes of the game and the four minutes of additional time saw Kiyovu defending gallantly to avoid conceding more goals as the game ended 4-0 in favour of Police who now lead the table with 10 points.
They return to action on Sunday, September 29when they take on Vision FC at Kigali Pele Stadium.
