Renowned Rwandan disc jockey Pyfo is expected to perform at the highly anticipated Afro festival slated for November 19, in Heidelberg, Germany.

The ‘Katona’ hit maker announced the development on Tuesday, October 19, in an exclusive interview with The New Times.

The Kigali-based disc jockey becomes the first Rwandan musician to perform at any event of the music festival known as one of biggest and brightest Afro international festivals that attracts thousands of revelers.

According to Pyfo, appearing on the long line up of Afro Fest is a milestone in his music career as it has always been his dream to perform at one of the world’s biggest music festivals.

"Starting my music career, I never thought I could be invited to big gigs like this one. I’m more than ready to represent my country in Germany as well as introducing our home made sounds to music lovers of Europe. It’s a dream come true!” the deejay said.

Pyfo further unveiled plans of performing in different countries of Europe such as Poland, Belgium and France.

"Afro-Festival” is organised by non-profit organisation, Migration Sphere Heidelberg e.V, in cooperation with Kulturhaus Karlstorbahnhof e.V.

The event is supported by the Kompetenznetzwerk Plurales Heidelberg and funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as part of the federal program "Demokratie LEBEN!”

The 2022 "Afro-Festival” marks the third edition of the festival's engagement for intercultural dialogue and the empowerment of the African diaspora in Germany.

Born Christian Muhire, Pyfo is one of a few DJs that are using their disk jockeying skills to change the partying lifestyle of Kigali by only using turntables and his good taste of music to attract huge positive moving crowds.

The young DJ rose to stardom after covid-19 pandemic with the release of his number one hit song, 'Kantona.' He is always booked back to back between Kigali and Gisenyi, and has managed to bridge the gap between generations when it comes to pushing soulful and good music.
