The government of Rwanda and Rhineland-Palatinate, a German state, are celebrating 40 years of partnership which cuts across different sectors such as economic development, health and education.
The official celebrations was held on Monday evening and was attended by Rwandan officials and those from Rhineland-Palatinate.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Vincent Biruta, commended the achievements of the partnership of the two states, in which more than 2,000 projects, valued at over €100 million, have been initiated in sectors of health, social welfare, education and income-generating activities.
"I strongly believe that this existing partnership will result in further remarkable achievements in years to come. As we consolidate our achievements, we also see opportunities to extend this partnership in areas of infrastructure development, urbanization and housing,” Biruta said.
He added that other projects are in technical and vocational training and scientific cooperation, youth empowerment through vocational and practical training that promotes job creation for them, agriculture production, viticulture, productivity and agro-processing, among others.
Also in attendance were Minister President Malu Dreyer who is leading a delegation from Rhineland-Palatinate as well as different leaders from Rwanda representing the communities involved in the partnership.
From Tuesday, the Rhineland-Palatinate delegation will visit different activities of their partnership with Rwanda.
