The bidding cities to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games have all contacted Rwanda National Olympic and Sport Committee to support their candidatures.

The four bid cities for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad; Chicago (United States), Tokyo (Japan), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and Madrid (Spain) have sent correspondences to the local Olympic body requesting its support in their candidatures to win the rights of hosting the Games.

The local Olympic Committee boss Ignace Beraho told Times Sport yesterday that they will decide on the candidature basing on the relationship that exists between those NOC’s as well as the presentations contained in their hosting program.

"We will support the city of our choice during the IOC Congress due in October this year,” Beraho said.

The International Olympic Committee will select the host city for the 2016 Games on October 2 in Copenhagen, Denmark this year.

Meanwhile, Chicago is the early favorite to host the 2016 games because with the 2012 Games in Europe, the IOC are unlikely to return to the continent for the following summer games, which puts an obstacle in the way of Madrid.

Chicago have also benefited from coming through an intense competition within the United States to secure the US Olympic Committee’s nomination and have avoided the problems that dogged New York’s bid for 2012.
