Kwita Izina cycling tourney scheduled for next month (June 20) in Musanze is set to cost Rwf 18m. The one-day tourney formally called Volcano Tour of Rwanda has attracted seven local clubs namely Rubavu, Rapide, Cine Elmai, Huye, Unitava, Kayonza and Rwamagana.

However, the national cycling federation Permanent Secretary of Emmanuel Murenzi told Times Sport that they intend to invite teams from East Africa to make the event a lot more competitive.

"We plan to invite teams from East Africa to spice up the tournament and make it more competitive.

"We have also prepared a prize package of Rwf 3m for the winners. We shall talk to ORPTN and see if this tournament can take place every year,” Murenzi said.

ORPTN (Rwanda Office of tourism and national Parks) are the official sponsor of the competition.
