The Rwandan government has confirmed its readiness to sponsor the Amavubi Stars trip to Zambia for the final round of the 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier set for June 6 at Konkola Stadium in Lusaka.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Sport, Jean Pierre Karabaranga told Times Sport that though there has been a financial crisis in the world, the ministry will nonetheless support the national team throughout the entire qualifying campaign.

"The budget of the Amavubi team in the 2010 World/Africa Nations’ Cup qualifiers was catered for and there will be no hindrances,” Karabaranga said.

Karabaranga’s remarks came in the wake of the Karate federation was denied money to take the national team take part in a regional meet.

"Karate had not forwarded their action plan to the Ministry at the time when we started planning for the mini-budget which was approved by the Cabinet last year in June, so we could not find any money for them,” Karabaranga noted. He also cautioned federations to always forward their action plans in time.

Before playing the Zambia qualifier, Amavubi will engage themselves in a friendly match with Malawi in Blantyre on May 31.

After drawing her first game against Algeria, Rwanda need a good result in Zambia to keep her qualification hopes alive.
Still in group C, Egypt will play away to Algeria on June 7 in a Northern Africa affair.
