Midfielder Jimmy Mulisa reported to the Amavubi Stars training camp on Tuesday ahead of the next 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Zambia on June 6 in Lusaka.
Mulisa, who plays for Beveren in Belgium’s second division, is the first professional player to join camp with others expected to arrive later this week.
Other professionals expected include; Saddou Boubakary (Libya), Hamad Ndikumana (AC Omonio), Henri Munyaneza (Germinal Beerschot) and skipper Olivier Karekezi (Ham Kam).
Meanwhile, Amavubi head coach Branko Tucak yesterday morning engaged select sides (A&B) to a competitive game at Amahoro stadium as he continues to test the players before picking his final 18-man team for the international friendly with Malawi on May 31.
Tucak also has something to smile about after learning that Labama Bokota Kamana has been declared fit for the Zambia tie.
The striker missed the first qualifier against Algeria with a hip injury but according to Amavubi’s team doctor Musa Hakizimana, the APR player is fit to play again.
Bokota, 25 has been sidelined over the last eight weeks due to the injury but the striker showed that he can quickly get back in shape after hitting a brace for Amavubi Select side A yesterday.
The game ended in a 2-all draw after an own goal and another from Jean Baptista Mugiraneza leveled terms.
Rwanda depart for Malawi on May 28 for their friendly game before connecting to Lusaka on June 3 for the qualifier to be played three days later. After drawing their first game against Algeria, Rwanda need a good result in Zambia to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Zambia will also be hoping for the same after their 1-all draw away to Egypt. Egypt plays Algeria on June 7 in the other Group C tie.
