A school bus accident in Nyamasheke District claimed the lives of two students and left 32 others injured on Thursday, September 19, according to Rwanda National Police (RNP).

The incident occurred in Ruharambuga Sector, Ntendezi Cell, Kamabuye village, when a Toyota minibus, registration number RAH 042T, transporting students from St. Matthew School, was involved in the crash.
According to Traffic Police spokesperson SP Emmanuel Kayigi, the accident happened at around 3:35p.m.
"The driver attempted to dodge a bicycle moving in the same direction when the accident happened. The cyclist is among the injured," said Kayigi.
The injured students were taken to Kamonyi Health Center and Bushenge Hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
