Local football federation, Ferwafa yesterday briefed Fifa women instructor Monika Staab on the level of women football in Rwanda. The federation officials also used the occasion to request her help in developing of women football in the country.

The German born instructor is in the country for a month long working visit that will see her assess the level of women football since its inception in 2004.

Ferwafa vice president Vedaste Kayiranga told Times Sport that they had solicited for technical support from Staab.

"We briefed her about how women football started in Rwanda in 2004 and that last year we formed a national team and the level of development of women football in the country.

"We also plan with her help, to send 25 women football coaches to Germany for coaching clinics,” he said.

Monika Staab was born in Frankfurt and is credited for popularizing women football in Germany.

She steered local outfit SG Praunheim to FFC Frankfurt and helped them to domestic and international glory working both as coach and President of the Team. She now works as a Fifa instructor touring different countries in a bid to popularize women football.
