APR FC midfielder Bosco Ruboneka admits they wasted so many chances against Pyramids in Kigali but remains confident that they can still eliminate the Egyptians and qualify for the CAF Champions League group stages if they become clinical in Cairo.

Ruboneka had a good game on Saturday, September 14, when APR FC played a 1-1 draw with Pyramids at Amahoro Stadium.

The Rwandan champions are not safe with the score package but the midfielder insists there is still a chance to knock Pyramids out if he and his teammates use their chances well in the second leg slated for Saturday, September 21.

"We have to blame ourselves that we are lacking that killer instinct in front of goal. We had four or five chances but we didn’t capitalize on them,” admitted Ruboneka.

"It [second leg] is a very big game where we have to score with the chances we create. We know that Pyramids is a very big team and we saw them in Kigali, the way they play. We know it's going to be a very different game in Cairo,”

"But I don’t think we are scared, we will go to play football and I believe we can qualify here in Cairo."

Pyramids are favourites on paper with home advantage but Ruboneka fired them a warning that it’s not over until it’s over.

"We want to play a good match away and maintain our chances of qualifying and it will be tough. Pyramids has great players with a lot of experience in this competition. I would like to stress once again that a football match will remain a football match,” he said.

It was not the result APR FC wished for in the first leg at home and they now face an uphill task to eliminate Pyramids at their home turf in Cairo if they are to qualify for the CAF Champions’ League group stages.

"If we play against Pyramids with the same quality that we have displayed this week, and defend well, then I am confident we will get the right result and move into the group stages,” he said.

APR will be looking to win at Cairo International Stadium, the same ground where they lost 6-1 at the hands of the same side and in the same round.
