Rayon Sports have refuted allegations that they owe former coach, Jorge Manuel da Silva Paixão, any money as he threatens to sue the club to the world football body.

Paixão coached Rayon for five months last season before parting ways after completing his short-term contract at the end of of the season in June. He accuses the Blues of only paying him for one-and-a-half months.

In an interview with one local radio, the Portuguese tactician said: "I worked for five months, I wasn't been paid for the three months."

He further alleged that he has tried to reach Rayon Sports President, Jean Fidele Uwayezu, on telephone 'several times' but the latter did not return his calls or text back.

"I am giving it one week, and if nothing is done on Rayon's part, I will lodge a complaint with FIFA," he revealed, underlining that his lawyers had also sent an email to the club about the issue.

Speaking to Times Sport on Thursday, Rayon Sports spokesperson, Jean Paul Nkurunziza, dismissed the claims as a hoax.

"We didn't receive any email from Paixão, and he knows himself that we fulfilled everything as per his contract."

"We paid him for all four months he worked for Rayon," said Nkurunziza, maintaining that he is not owed any money, and he should take the case to relevant authorities "instead of always hounding the club in the media."

It is not the first time that the nine-time Rwandan champions are accused of failing to meet their financial commitments to coaches. 

The club paid about Rwf13 million to former Belgian manager, Ivan Minnaert, in 2020 after a long legal battle.
