ADAM ABUBAKER, commonly known as DJ Adams started deejaying in 1993 while living in Kenya. After returning to Rwanda in 1997 he carried on with deejaying but in 2006 he decided to concentrate on radio, as a presenter.

He however, recently announced that he has now decided to be actively behind the decks again, in different bars and clubs playing different types of music accordingly.

Talking to The New Times he said that it is about time that people who have been listening to him on radio get to connect on another level and see him deejaying live in public gatherings.

"Even though I have been active on radio for over 15 years I never left deejaying and I know there are people who are looking forward to see me behind the decks actively again. I want to play music that is not played anywhere else in clubs here in Rwanda. You will not find rock or reggae being played only but I will give that to people,” he shared.

He added that each day of the week will have one kind of music that will be played alone. Thursday will be strictly for old school music, so all the talks will be nothing short of old school music and will be an amazing adventure for oldies who will been taken back in time.

Each music genre will have its own specific day to be played. People who love that certain music will have a full package and time to listen to their favorite music.

"Wednesdays will be strictly nothing other than reggae music. From Bob Marley to Lucky Dube and not forgetting Alpha Blondi, among other reggae famous musicians of all time will be the only ones entertaining people on that day. Tuesdays are for hip hop music lovers and other genres like rock music and RnB will have their own timetable as well,” he said.

He revealed other plans to introduce a jam session which normally ends around 7pm or 8pm with people dancing and having fun as music plays together informally, without any preparations. It also a good thing for people who don’t like to stay late in bars as well as young people who must be home early.

Having grown with a passion for music from the age of six, after completing his secondary school the passion drove him to having more than just listening to music at home and deejaying. He started deejaying on radios from City radio to Hot radio till 2017 and then Radio 10.
