Health stakeholders have called for more collective responsibility towards the accomplishment of the family planning regulation policy.

During a joint health sector review meeting that ended on October 19 at Jali club, participants underscored the need for greater coordination on the part of government and health partners.

The review is an annual event that brings together all health stakeholders including government representatives, development partners and public policy makers.

Dr Hakiba Solange, a coordinator of the maternal and child health taskforce in the Ministry of health said the inter-ministerial committee should be highly operational in the sharing of information on how births can be regulated.

Established early this year, the committee comprises of the Ministries of; Health, Education, Gender and family promotion, Youth, and Local government.

She said there should be a quick integration of HIV/Aids partners into population control programs so as to achieve results.

"The National Aids Commission (CNLS) has a work format which should involve partner programs on population issues” Hakiba said.

The stakeholders observed that there is need to set up more pharmacies and also increase information dissemination at district level in order to widen the standards of disease treatment and control.

Dr Innocent Nyaruhirira, Minister for HIV/Aids and other infectious diseases urged stakeholders to extend their cooperation to the sick and most affected people at grass root levels.   

 He said that aid effectiveness and collective responsibility through the Health Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) by government and donor partners would help the country realise its Vision 2020 objectives.  

Through this process, the Ministry of health hopes to ensure that all development partners who contribute to the health sector whether in form of project support, sector budget support or general budget support are part of the Health Sector Wide Approach (SWAp).
