Egyptian coach Ahmed Abdelrahman Adel (C) and his assistant Bahaaeldin Ibrahim signed a one-year deal on Monday to coach Gasogi United.

Gasogi United have announced the appointment of Egyptian coach Ahmed Abdelrahman Adel and his assistant Bahaaeldin Ibrahim for the forthcoming 2022/23 football season.

The duo put pen to paper on Monday, July 18, at club’s headquarters after agreeing to coach the club on a one-year deal, with an option to renew for another 12 months.

While presenting the new coaching staff to the press, club president Charles Nkuriza Kakooza, commonly known as KNC, said the new coaches have all it takes to turn Gasogi into a club that challenges for titles.

"Their task is to transform Gasogi from an ordinary club into title challengers. This man [Adel] has a fighting character that I like on the touchline. I am confident we will achieve a lot with them,” KNC said during the coaches’ unveiling.

During his unveiling, Adel revealed that he rejected other offers to work with KNC after he presented to him a clear football project that he believes he fits in as a coach.

"Before coming here, I had two offers from Saudi Arabia and South Africa, but I preferred to work with KNC at Gasogi because I heard about him before and knew about his project and I appreciated it. I think we can do something good together,” Adel told the press.

The Rwanda Premier League season is just a month away from kick off on August 19, and Adel and his assistant have no time to waste as they seek to immediately get the training sessions started with the club’s new squad.

"We are going to work hard in the next 30 days and we'll have three training sessions every day to get the players back to their best,” he said.

Adel and Bahaaeldin Ibrahim are not new in Rwandan football, having previously coached topflight club Musanze FC before they returned to Egypt after the covid-19 halted the league.
