Beach Volleyball: Rwanda drawn in Group B Commonwealth games

The national menu2019s beach volleyball team was on Wednesday drawn in Group B at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.

The national men’s beach volleyball team was on Wednesday drawn in Group B at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games scheduled for July 28 to August 8 in Birmingham.

The Rwandan team as well as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Gambia were all granted automatic qualification to the men’s event due to their good positions in world ranking.

24 teams will battle for supremacy in the sport at the competition in Birmingham with gold, silver and bronze up for grabs.

Beach volleyball which will be held at Smithfield is making its second appearance at the games after it was first played in the 2018 edition in Gold Coast.

Christopher Mudahinyuka, the head coach of the national team said that the team began residential training last week in Rubavu District.

Players who are in camp are; Olivier Ntagengwa, Venuste Ngatsinzi, Fils Habanzitwari, Prince Kanamugire, Manuel Mugisha and Mandera Nzirimo.

Group A: Canada, Gambia, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Sri Lanka

Group B: Australia, Rwanda, South Africa and Maldives

Group C: England, New Zealand, Cyprus and Tuvalu
