Maiden National Inter-company relays due in August

Local sports marketing brand SMARK and Jabalee Sports Management have jointly announced the first national inter-company relays that will take place in Rwanda next month. 

The tournament, dubbed ‘Rwanda Inter-Company Relays 2022’, slated for 15 August 2022, at Bugesera Stadium in Nyamata Satellite City targets to attract 30 companies and organizations to participate at the inaugural edition. Registration is on first come first serve basis.  

The relays tournament will be officiated by Rwanda Federation of Athletics.

"This is an incredibly powerful platform for encouraging active living and promotion of health and fitness in the workplace, it is also a unique team building and networking sports event. 

 "This is a day for company employees, their friends and family to come, have fun and support their teams,” a statement released by SMARK on Thursday, July 7, reads in part, adding that the relays’ multi-category programme allows companies to find a place in the relays. 

 "Just choose the category and away you go!  Everyone is a winner, especially you and your Organisation,” the statement further reads. 

According to organizers, athletes’ teams are not limited to employees of participating companies and organizations as participating companies can bring together employees, colleagues, family and friends form a team. 

All relays categories ranging from sprint relays to team building sack and hamster relay races are open equally to nonprofessional women & men above 18 years old. The event encourages participation regardless of ability and Medals & Awards will be presented to winning athletes & organizations. 

Registration is now open via smark.africa/companyrelays  or by calling +250791921141 where Relays entry fee Rwf 300,000 per Relays category and Rwf 1,000,000 per company for all games involved as well as an extra Rwf 30,000 for uniform, which includes a vest and shorts, per athlete.

Music, Barbecue, drinks and other refreshments will be availed at the venue as organisers look to create a worthwhile experience for Inter-Company Relays participants.

"This is an inter-company relays festival and we’re introducing an element of fun and recreation on a competitive stage” Jabalee said in a joint statement.   

"We also encourage sponsors looking to create brand exposure, develop new business opportunities and meet new clients to take advantage of available opportunities,” The company added.
