Equity Bank on Friday recognized 20 customers that made the highest money transfers through Western Union.
The ceremony took place at the bank’s Giporoso branch. The event is part of a campaign to encourage customers to keep on using money transfer services and also to raise awareness of these services.
Jean Jacques Kajuga, Head of Payments and Digital Channels, said that rewarding the clients is also meant to show the bank’s clientele that the bank is there to facilitate them with effective channels of money transfers, as well as highlight our continued commitment towards offering good service to our customers.
"We started this campaign to drive awareness about the services that we offer in terms of allowing our customers and their loved ones, living abroad, to be able to send money to each other. It also informs them of the ease of our services in money transfers using Western Union through our Equity channels,” he said.

Rose Immacule Hakiza, a customer of Equity Bank and one of the winners, started using Western Union in 2018 for money transfers and was very happy to be selected among other customers to receive the reward.
"I choose Equity Bank because it is a bank that provides good services and security in money transfers, whenever I would send money I always felt secure about the transfer,” she said.
Albert Kanani, a winner also, expressed his gratitude for receiving a reward from Equity Bank.
"I have an account in Equity Bank, and two in Western Union, one for Rwandan francs and another for dollars, I am very happy to receive this reward, Equity Bank is a great Bank that gives good and effective services,” he said.
The bank envisages giving out these rewards annually. Equity bank is a well reputable financial institution, with a solid base of 50 million customers in six African countries offering business-tailored services.
