An 87th minute header by attacker Ibrahim Nshimiyimana secured a valuable 1-1 draw for Vision FC against Muhazi United on Friday, September 13 at Kigali Pelé Stadium in the third week of the Rwanda Premier League.
Veteran striker Samson Babua's well-taken first half goal had given Muhazi United a 1-0 lead for a long time, and it appeared as if they would take maximum points, only for Nshimiyimana to turn the tables and equalise in the final minutes of the game.
It was a game that started at a slow pace as both teams decided to play long balls.
The away side were looking dangerous in attack early on as they capitalised on the pace of Babua to great effect.
Muhazi broke the deadlock in the 16th minute as Babua turned his marker inside the box before firing past goalkeeper James Bienvenue for the opener.
Babuwa nearly made it 2-0 in the 18th minute but saw his left footed striker saved by Vision FC’s goalkeeper.
In the 30th minute, Vision FC hit the woodwork through a thunderous strike from Omar Moussa.
Both teams cooled down the pressure as they passed the ball around until the first half came to an end.
The second half saw Vision FC playing attacking football as they dominated possession but still failed to have the cutting edge upfront.
They kept pushing more men upfront in search of the equalizer. Idarus Cyubahiro missed a glorious chance for Vision FC in the 70th minute as he headed straight into the waiting arms of goalkeeper Iniace Ebini, having found himself unmarked in the penalty box.
Muhazi tried to catch Vision FC on the break as they sat deep and played on the counter.
Goalkeeper Bienvenue pulled two superb saves in the 80th and 85th minute to deny Muhazi United the second goal.
In the 87th minute, Vision FC had a free kick on the left side of the Muhazi defense, a great opportunity that saved the day for them as Nshimiyimana soared high to head home, off an in-swinging ball whipped into the box, making the game end 1-1.
